Vito J. Giambalvo was born in St Louis Mo. to parents of Sicilian descent. His first job in television was at KMOX-TV a local CBS owned and operated station where he was a stage manager. He opened 2 pizza parlors , but had to sell them when Uncle Sam came calling. After his service, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his passion to direct and produce films. He soon found a job as a camera operator and worked with all of Norman Lear's Productions, including pitching story lines and getting a chance to write an episode of "The Jeffersons". While a camera operator he wrote, produced and shot original pilots and short films. In the 80's, Vito toured the U.S. as a stand-up comedian, the experience gave him a reservoir of valuable celluloid material, comedic friends and writing partners he collaborates witrh to this day. In the " Video Village" section of this site, there is a collage of shorts both new & old that you can enjoy. In 1994 Vito founded Creative Teamwork Productions......... In 2005 he was nominated by BET, for Best Director of a Comedy Series, " My Wife & Kids with Damon Wayans "....... "Let Me Count the Ways" which he wrote the story for , Executive Produced and Directed, won "The Audience Award" for Best Feature at the NY International Film & Video Festival in 2006. Recently he directed a short titled "Hi Fly" that was an Official Selection of the 2010 Taos Shortz Film Festival in New Mexico. His next project is the upcoming organized crime thriller " The Fifth Mafia" slated to begin production late 2010. Vito is a member of the DGA, SAG, SOC, IATSE , NABET, & IBEW.......................ART LEVIN
